Green Teeth

Dear Dr. Ellie,

I notice when I use ACT and Listerine my teeth turn green (both products are green).  It stays that way and so does this mean I have little remaining enamel or ?

Hi J,

Your problem is probably lighting in your bathroom or you are looking at the rinse residue that stays on teeth for about half an hour after rinsing.

Fluorescent lighting is always terrible for teeth. Go outside into natural light, look at your teeth outside ( half an hour after rinsing) take a mirror with you. Use this mirror in sunlight to tell exactly what color your teeth really

If you are still not satisfied with the color of your teeth eat a few more Zellies during the day.
You can eat Zellies after rinsing your teeth, or at intervals through the day especially after anything you eat or drink. You will be working to put extra calcium into the deeper layers of your enamel to thicken it each time you eat Zellies.

Many people are tricked into thinking their teeth are gray or yellow by reflection under fluorescent light.
After all tooth enamel is clear like a window. Enamel has no color the color you see is a reflection off the surface.

This is not to say that bleaching cannot whiten teeth it can,  but if you want healthy teeth forget bleaching the underneath layers for now and work to make your outer enamel as hard as possible.
