Dear Dr. Ellie,
I started using your recipe for complete adult oral health about 2-3 months ago. My gingivitis improved immensely I had the first cleaning in a year with no bleeding. I did however have very severe staining on the inside surfaces of my teeth, When my hygienist showed me I was shocked. She had to do some very intense scraping to remove the stains. The stains were not just at the gum line. I’ve been nervously watching my teeth since then (March 8th was my last cleaning). I see you mention some staining as normal response but mine was very pronounced. It’s made me feel uneasy as the hygienist was very shocked to see the staining and i felt uneasy about all the scraping on my tooth enamel to remove the stains.
I’m also wondering if you might be looking into any less chemical alternatives to the 3 mouth washes. Thanks for your work i read your book and appreciate the concepts.
Sincerely,
R
Hi R,
I talk with a lot of people and you are not alone in your concerns about this stain. I am convinced that this is dead plaque that was stuck to your teeth. Now you must protect yourself from “re-infection’ so it will not return.
It will be important to do the following, since this is how you break the infection chain:
Clean your toothbrush EVERY day make sure it is stored so it can air dry away from the toilet and away from anyone else who may have gum disease.
Be careful who you kiss and who shares your food or drinks ( this is a contagious, transmissible infection). Make sure you have at least 5 – 6 exposures to xylitol each day: mints, gum, granular xylitol dissolved in water to sip throughout the day. Frequency of exposure is important.
If you can protect yourself from re-infection there will be no more plaque on your teeth and I do not believe you will see this problem again. Remember how much your gums improved in two months??
This is just the start of the amazing events that will happen if you stay on this system.
I know of no other combination of products that will give these results. I have looked to see if there are other similar products minus the colors and additives and if I ever discover them I will let you know. I wish I had the money to make my own line of mouth rinses they would be the correct ingredients without all the colors etc…..I will tell you when I do! Ha!
Best Wishes I hope you stay on the system for at least another six months because I think you will amaze your hygienist.

I am confused do I rinse with water after each stage i.e. Closys -rinse water-brush-rinse water-listerine-rinse water-fluoride (keep on) or do I just plow thru without water i.e. Keep toothpaste on teeth?
Without any water. The only water is to dampen your toothbrush! Yes, you will still have the residue of the toothpaste on your teeth when you use the Listerine step. You can spit out but no water rinsing at all between the steps…..https://ultimateoralhealthguide.com/2012/12/04/zellies-complete-mouth-care-system-booklet
