Can White Spots Heal before they are Cavities?

Dear Dr. Ellie:

Thank you for all the information. Can any of this repair cavities or stop the damage from cavities? At this point they are white spots, so I’m hoping we can correct the problem without having teeth filled at such a young age.

Again thank you

A

Dear A:

Q: Can any of this repair cavities or stop the damage from cavities?

Absolutely! A white spot is the start of a cavity and so it is easily remineralized since the skeleton of the tooth is still intact. Think of enamel like a honey comb in a white spot the structure remains just the honey has gone. Once you allow xylitol and ACT to replace the “honey /minerals” the enamel will be healed and strong again.

With a cavity there are additional factors: most of all how big the cavity is physically.
I have seen many cavities heal completely  even ones that most dentists would say cannot heal disappear in six months.

You need to combine xylitol and dilute fluoride (ACT) to make this happen in the system I suggest. Neither xylitol nor fluoride alone appears to heal sizable cavities. The delight is the combined use of these products that work in harmony to basically rebuild tooth enamel!
