Dear Dr. Ellie,
My daughter has severe food and contact allergies. At the almost age of 2 they are mostly under control. Suffice to say her dental hygeine has probably suffered some due to the fighting and screaming with all of the creams, lotions, and forced baths to improve her skin integrity. Now that her skin issues have improved somewhat, so has her enjoyment of brushing teeth.
She has some decalcification on her front two teeth.
Will the Zellies help with this or is there something else we should add to the Zellies routine?
Have you had many problems with allergic reactions from Zellies products?
Some tidbits of info about my daughter:
–>She only drinks water and soymilk no juice, she gets fruit which is enough
–>She has only been breastfed, never had a bottle and no longer uses a sippy cup except when riding in the car
–>Her diet is filled with low sugar carbs, fruits, vegetables, soy products, and meat proteins, she has very little sugar
–>We brush twice a day, sometimes brushing is better than others
–>She is still taking liquid medication for her allergies up to 3 times per day
–>She grinds her teeth at night, and bites on things a lot
–>Her 2 year molars have already come in
Thank you for any direction you can provide.
HR
Hi HR,
Here are my answers to your questions:
Will the Zellies help with this or is there something else we should add to the zellies routine?
Yes Xylitol will definitely help with this. Zellies or xylitol in any form will work even granular xylitol dissolved in water and sipped several times during the day (especially after meals) .
Xylitol will help to put minerals back into these teeth. Research supports 3-5 times a day at least and especially after meals.
I would also try to use a drop of ACT once or twice a day and apply it to the demineralized areas.
You could put a drop of bubblegum ACT on a toothbrush, a cloth or a Q tip and dab on the discolored front teeth. Xylitol helps the deeper layers of the tooth to repair and the ACT works to help heal the surface layers. Using these products together you should get rapid remineralization.
Have you had many problems with allergic reactions from Zellies products?
No, never.
Please let me know if there are any more questions I can answer for you and best of luck to you and your daughter.
