Child Cavities

Dear Dr. Ellie,

My 6 year old had fine teeth until recently. His teeth now has several cavities starting. It seems to all happened at once and very quickly progressed. He brushes as he always has and I monitor his sugar intake. Any ideas what might be up and how to correct this? Thanks.

Dear CT:

Cavities are caused by mouth acidity and/or by a child having a dry mouth. Many parents are unaware that apple juice is very acidic, also citrus juices and soda ( even diet soda).

Xylitol will help a lot and is a natural way to protect teeth. Here is a link to the website read as much as you can and then I can answer any questions.
