Dear Dr. Ellie:
I have been told by my dentist that I have periodontal disease very bad. She says I will lose my teeth anywhere from 5 to 20 years. of course no one wants to hear that. it scares me but I can only blame myself. I am getting the scaling/root planing done and will start going every 3 months for checkups. in your opinion, is all the extra money involved worth trying to keep my teeth or should I just look into the option of seeing if dental implants will work for me. they are extremely expensive so i don’t know if they will even be an option. I’m just trying to plan ahead and I don’t want to keep spending money that could be put towards a ‘new tooth’. I know the disease is irreversible but does xylitol help at all? Any thoughts or ideas would be of great help.
I will contact you again next week but please START ON MY PROGRAM NOW!!!
Closys is a wonderful mouth rinse you can buy it at Walgreen
DO NOT add the flavor to it.
Use Closys as a mouth rinse for about a minute before you brush your teeth.
Another very important thing : Make sure you clean your toothbrush every day in some Listerine…or a tooth brush sanitizer this is very important. Swish your toothbrush in some Listerine and then rinse your brush under running water.
Let the brush air dry never store in a bag or in a drawer.
Also make sure your toothbrush is away from the toilet area of your bathroom. When you flush the toilet germs can go up in the air and land on your toothbrush. Some of these germs can become gum disease bacteria.
With these things you will see immediate improvement.
Use Closys, then brush your teeth with the clean toothbrush and crest original toothpaste.
I would recommend rinsing the toothpaste off with Listerine and then rinsing the Listerine off with ACT.
All of this is written on the brochure on my website and you can print it from your computer or write to me and I will send it to you.
Zellies will make this routine even more effective.
But Please do not give up!
Maybe if you do all these things with a good routine you can amaze your dentist the next time you go. Please do not give up. This is a bacterial infection we just have to clean it away and make sure you do not reinfect your teeth.
Good luck and I will contact you again later in the week.
