Teen’s Transluscent Teeth

Dear Dr. Ellie,

Im 15 and the tips of my teeth are transluscent. I dont want my teeth to decay away. So I was wondering if there was a way to cure it while im still young?

DD

Dear DD,

Sorry it has taken me a while to reply to you.

If I were you, I would be sure to end every meal, snack or drink with some xylitol 100 percent xylitol products.

(Do not be confused by gum out there that says it contains xylitol when the main ingredient is an artificial sweetener sorbitol. Harmful acid-producing bacteria can learn to use sorbitol for energy. They may contribute to acid reflux symptoms so be careful!)

It is best to use a neutral mouthrinse before cleaning your teeth. I recommend Closys.
Also clean your teeth with a good toothbrush ( like the one at www.Zellies.com) and regular Crest toothpaste. Most of all, I would recommend you use the mouth rinse ACT at least twice a day. Never use whitening or peroxide containing products EVER. Do not use baking soda products either.

To keep your teeth white you can follow the directions on my website for the Complete Mouth Care System. At very least get yourself eating xylitol regularly and rinse twice a day with regular ACT mouthrinse.

Hope this helps!

Ellie Phillips DDS
