Master Cleanse and pH Question

Dear Dr. Ellie:

It’s been 2 months on the system

1.) When I drink the Master Cleanse recipe water, lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper), my ph is 8. I thought lemon is acidic?

2.)I have some cracked teeth and leaking fillings that have caused carries to form underneath. Can xylitol reverse the carries and remineralize cracks?

3.) I am losing papilla. I use the softest tooth available and properly and gently floss. Any advice?

OP

Dear OP,
Are you using everything as suggested? The Closys Crest Listerine ACT? The use of these exact products is important along with the daily use of at least 6.5 grams of xylitol. If you combine these products in this way there is good biochemistry to suggest that this will stop and can reverse caries it takes time: about 6-8 months to see changes.

Obviously I have no clinical studies of my own – I could not afford this. On the other hand, there are many dentists who have been shocked and delighted by the improvements they have noticed in their patients’ teeth after they have adopted this system of oral care.

If you are nervous of using these specific mouth rinses, xylitol will help but you may not get the same healing results.

I would definitely end your Master Cleanse drink by eating a Zellie mint or some Zellies gum to make sure that your teeth are protected. The maple syrup and cayenne may be raising the pH but I would not leave this on my teeth.

Hope this helps give this time. Make sure you avoid baking soda on your gums no peroxide or whitening either!

Take care,
Ellie Phillips, DDS
