Closys and Avoiding Clorinated Water

Hi Dr. Ellie,

We’re all enjoying the Zellies mints and I’m using the Closys II rinse twice a day.

I’ve read that there’s a link between chlorinated drinking water and chlorinated shower water and cancer. Do you know if this is the same chlorine that’s in Closyss II?

Thanks!

Linda

Hi Linda,

I agree about avoiding Chlorinated water.

Do you know that things like the antibacterial “triclosan” in Colgate Total (R) can react with the chlorine in tap water to form chloroform which may cause mouth ulcers and even may be carcinogenic?

On the other hand, Closys is a “chlorine dioxide system” .

The “Chlorine” in Closys (Cl2O) has as much to do with “Chlorine” as “Hydrogen” has to do with “Hydrogen Dioxide” …….you know Hydrogen Dioxide best as H2O ( = water!)
I think you will agree there is a big difference between hydrogen and water!

Hope this helps to make you feel better about this!
Ellie

  • Chlorine and chlorine dioxide are two very different gases. Chlorine is very toxic. Chlorine dioxide has been used for years as a safe water treatment, as a sanitizer for food, and as an antiseptic and antibacterial agent.Thank you for your interest in our products. Years of research and use have demonstrated their safety and their effectiveness.James L. Ratcliff, PhDRowpar Pharmaceuticals

I’m so sorry (chem major here), but water is Dihydrogen monoxoide, not hydrogen dioxide. The analogy remains the same, though. BTW, I just started the system, my mouth feels great, and I am eagerly awaiting my first shipment of Zellies mints 🙂 I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t wait until my next dentist appointment to see how my teeth are!
