Dear Dr. Ellie,
A friend of mine told me about you and your program. I was just wondering why you recommend brushing with Crest over Colgate.
Thank you,
C. McC
Hi Ms. McC
My concern about Colgate is for the many people who seem to be sensitive to the chemical triclosan present in Colgate Total.
I have discovered many people develop small mouth ulcers on the gingival tissues when they use Colgate.
When they stop using this paste, the ulceration goes away.
I have no data to PROVE that Colgate is responsible but it certainly SEEMS to follow a pattern.
If you go to chat rooms about dentistry on line, many young people have this kind of mouth ulceration and don’t know what to do about it.
I have contacted some of these people and found that they are use the “free” paste handed out by their dentist (it used to be Crest but these days it seems to be Colgate is the FREE gift!!)
I understand from the research that triclosan may help to reduce plaque bacteria counts.
The system I recommend has several rinsing elements to address mouth bacteria both supra- and subgingivally.
I have been recommending my “Clean White Teeth (CWT)” system for many years www.CleanWhiteTeeth.com and when people use it THEY GET BETTER!
I am happy with the 100 percent success rate that I enjoy so much so, I recommend products that I do not manufacture and do not make any money on!
Why ? As a doctor I think my job is to heal people!
I avoid products with chemicals or that are too abrasive.
My philosophy is to build up strength, density and acid resistance on the outer dental enamel.
My other goal is to heal periodontal pocketing and to stop future gum disease for adult patients.
If you have any other questions or concerns I would be happy to chat or respond by e-mail.
Dental health is my passion!
Thanks for your question,
Ellie Phillips DDS
